ADRIFT POTTERY, KAREN WILLIAMS, Lapwing mug, footed SOLD

£40.00
Sold Out

This mug shows a hand drawn lapwing, on a painterly cream background. This series of mugs are decorated inside and out, each with a different native bird and sprigs of leaves tinted in blue. The base shows a script of the bird name and the date and place of making. This mug is particular in that it sits on four round feet.

Each mug is hand built and decorated as an individual piece, making these very special mugs, with no two being the same. They all have their own irregularities, which is part of their character and charm.

Karen Williams is an artist working in clay. Her illustrated pottery consists of a range of functional tableware and homewares decorated predominantly with her illustrations of native birds, combined with plants and other natural finds. Very much in the style of ‘country’ and folk pottery, Karen has developed a material and identifiable style of tactile and hand made pieces. Her colour palate is soft and muted, perhaps influenced by her training in Japan. The materials are Red Earthenware & Slip with Oxides.

Height 8cm, Diametre at rim 10cm, Diametre at base 8.5cm, Width including handle 13.5cm
